Today, we highlight Brian Shively, our transportation administrative assistant for our staff spotlight. Brian has worked for BCS for five years, and within that time, he credits Transportation Supervisor Lindy Shumaker as the person who has been most influential in his career. He hopes students can learn two things from him: patience and kindness. Also, if there is one thing Brian hopes more people know about our district, it would be the array of opportunities our students have here, ranging from music, athletics, academic teams, and social clubs to numerous other activities. We are incredibly grateful to have Brian as a member of the Creek family!

This week's staff spotlight is Dustin Ferguson! Dustin is our physical education teacher at Trebein Elementary. Dustin has been a member of the Creek family for 19 years, and throughout his career, he has been most influenced by Principal Lisa Walk. He hopes his students get excited to come to his class every day and leave feeling that they are cared for and with a better understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun! He also wishes more people could see how well Beavercreek employees collaborate and how much of a family atmosphere there is throughout the entire district. 🧡🖤 Congrats Dustin!

This week, we highlight Ashley Bieller, a member of the student nutrition team at Shaw Elementary. Although Ashley began her BCS career only a few months ago, she says that recently retired student nutrition operations manager Dawn Kacvinsky has been the most influential person in her career since joining our team. If there is one thing Ashley hopes more people know about Beavercreek City Schools, it would be that we have a great community and awesome staff. She also hopes to influence our students by teaching them to be happy, healthy, and kind. We are thrilled to have Ashley as a member of the Creek family!

This week's staff spotlight is Lukas Schweikert, our freshmen world history teacher and middle school cross country and track coach. ⭐⭐⭐ Lukas has been teaching in the district for two years and coaching for five. He says two of his favorite quotes are "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" and Mr. Roger's quote, "You make each day a special day by just you being you." He believes every student is unique and has their own special gifts. As long as they give their best, every day of teaching is a special and fantastic day. Lukas also says that many individuals have influenced his career. "As a Beavercreek grad, Class of 2012, many teachers in the district directly influenced how I teach and coach. To name a few, Mr. Enneking, Mrs. Ford, Mr. Vinson, Mr. Dave Miller, Mr. Cusick, Mr. Ahrns, and Mr. Schaadt all helped instill my love of history and how to teach it. Mrs. Group, Mr. Group, Ms. Egan, Mrs. Pope, Mr. Willets, Frau Humphrey, Mrs. Russ, Mrs. Nartker, Mr. Wegley, and Mrs. McDaniel showed me the importance of student relationships and how they foster educational growth. These teachers showed that if you care about a student, they will push themselves to learn. I would be remiss if I did not mention my actual family, my DPS family, and my Ferguson family (shoutout to Mr. Kelly, Mr. Anderson, and Mr. Gilbert for being the best social studies department!)

Hannah Johnson, kitchen manager at Valley Elementary, is this week’s staff spotlight! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hannah has been with the district for two years and hopes to teach students the importance of kindness. She says, “Acts of kindness make the world a better place for everyone.” Hannah’s parents are to whom she attributes her success, as they have always supported and encouraged her. They also modeled a good work ethic and strong values growing up. If there is one thing she hopes people know about our district, it would be that we have so many wonderful staff members, and our students are always the top priority!
