Valley’s SHINE Award
Hazel Miller
We are so excited to announce that Kindergartener Hazel Miller is Valley’s April recipient of the SHINE award for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Character Education program is a key component to helping our students understand what it means to lead and to be good citizens. Every month, we honor one student who consistently demonstrates two or more pillars of character which are: Citizenship, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Respect, and Responsibility. To recognize these students for their efforts, Beavercreek City Schools has created the “SHINE Award – Highlighting Outstanding Students of Character.”
This is how Hazel’s teacher, Mrs. Howell, describes her:
Hazel personifies good character. She exhibits all of the traits of good character throughout her school days. She is respectful of herself and others, and of the school around her. She always volunteers to lend a helping hand, whether it be running an errand for an adult, or helping a classmate with classwork or to clean up a mess. Hazel is so kind and caring! She is a great friend. She often looks for children who don’t have someone to play with, and makes a special effort to include them. She celebrates everyone’s unique differences. Hazel really shines as an example of treating others the way one would want to be treated!
We are so proud of you, Hazel!! Keep up the great work!
