Hannah Johnson, kitchen manager at Valley Elementary, is this week’s staff spotlight! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hannah has been with the district for two years and hopes to teach students the importance of kindness. She says, “Acts of kindness make the world a better place for everyone.”
Hannah’s parents are to whom she attributes her success, as they have always supported and encouraged her. They also modeled a good work ethic and strong values growing up.
If there is one thing she hopes people know about our district, it would be that we have so many wonderful staff members, and our students are always the top priority!
Special thank you to Nathan, Kayli, and Brady for taking a break from show choir rehearsal tonight to stop by our Board of Education meeting! They stopped by to give our Board an update on all things BHS in a new segment called “High School Happenings.” #BHS #FriendsShowChoir

Congrats to Tamara Frost, who was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award, & Angie Hemmerich, who was awarded the Support Staff Member of the Year Award! Mrs. Frost teaches music at Shaw Elementary, & Mrs. Hemmerich is the head custodian at Parkwood Elementary.
Mrs. Minton's ELL students are from all over the world: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Vietnam, The Congo, Turkey, Japan, Spain, and Lebanon. To start the 23-24 school year, she introduced them to America's favorite pastime, BASEBALL! Students learned baseball vocabulary and practiced verbs like throw, pitch, hit, miss, and swing. Then, they got to try it out for themselves. Also, baseball lessons are only complete with learning "Take Me Out to the Ballgame and eating some Cracker Jacks!

We caught Mrs. Garcher's class as they were laser-focused today, reviewing how to make constructions using a compass. Students created congruent segments, congruent angles, angle bisectors, and perpendicular bisectors! #geometry #FergusonHall
Today was a great day for learning as we had various staff professional development going on. Our BHS teachers learned about ways to use data to inform instructional strategies. Our middle school teachers spent time collaborating to learn more about the characteristics and needs of our students and how we can better support them, and some of our elementary staff spent time learning more about emotional intelligence.
Our incoming freshmen attended orientation this week to prepare for the new year! A huge shout out to John Anderson, Heather Barker, and the Creek Crew students for working to make this such a success.
Also, while our students were busy preparing, a parent orientation was presented by Ferguson Hall administrators and counselors in the BHS auditorium. Thank you to all BCS staff and community groups who helped make this presentation successful as well.
Join us tonight for Open House Night! Each of our buildings will host an open house for students and parents to stop by and meet teachers, get acquainted with the building and classrooms, and get ready to start the school year off next week.
Need dinner plans tomorrow night? Support our student-athletes with TWO different options. Beavercreek Cross Country is hosting a Panera fundraiser from 4 pm - 8 pm, and the BHS Football Team is hosting a Skyline Chili fundraiser from 5 pm - 9 pm. #bcreekschools
