This is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Thank you to our BHS Transition Class students for stopping by the Board office and Preschool today to collect our recyclables!
This week's staff spotlight is Dustin Ferguson! Dustin is our physical education teacher at Trebein Elementary.
Dustin has been a member of the Creek family for 19 years, and throughout his career, he has been most influenced by Principal Lisa Walk.
He hopes his students get excited to come to his class every day and leave feeling that they are cared for and with a better understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun!
He also wishes more people could see how well Beavercreek employees collaborate and how much of a family atmosphere there is throughout the entire district. 🧡🖤
Congrats Dustin!
The speech and debate team enjoyed their holiday break but returned to work before the new semester started. The team traveled to Springboro High School last weekend to compete in the 1st Annual Springboro Tournament. Congratulations to:

Kevin McCray, Top Novice and 3rd in Declamation
Rishi Mankala, 2rd in Oratory

And special congratulations to Nate Houseknecht, who took 4th in Informative. This is Nate's 4th high-level finish on the season, and he is now qualified for the State Tournament in March!
Also, congratulations to Frida Lozano, Tournament Champion in United States Extemp!
Beavercreek placed 2nd as a team, with half the students as the tournament champions. Great job, Beaver SPEAK and Debate!
Our high school Spanish 1 students put their language skills to the test with a creative 'About Me' project! From sharing personal interests to highlighting newfound Spanish vocabulary, they're ready to showcase what they've learned in an engaging and fun way. Check out a few of their projects, which are displayed in the halls at BHS!
On Saturday, January 6, during the BCS Board of Education Annual Organizational Meeting, Jo Ann Rigano was nominated and elected Board President for the 2024 school year. Krista Hunt was nominated and elected Board Vice President.
REMINDER: Parents & students in 6-11th grades interested in taking CCP courses next year must attend an informational meeting. An in-person meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 23rd, in the BHS Auditorium at 6:30 pm, or a virtual meeting can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/CreekCCP
REMINDER: BHS will be having a Financial Aid night presentation this Wednesday, January 10th in the BHS Auditorium at 6 PM. This is not a FAFSA workshop, but FAFSA and Scholarships will be discussed. If your senior or you as a parent have not created a FAS ID and you need to complete the FAFSA, please create one as soon as possible. The FAFSA is still in the "soft launch" process so the site is sometimes a bit tricky to work with.
FAFSA application information can be found using the link below.

Hope to see you there!
This week, we highlight Ashley Bieller, a member of the student nutrition team at Shaw Elementary.
Although Ashley began her BCS career only a few months ago, she says that recently retired student nutrition operations manager Dawn Kacvinsky has been the most influential person in her career since joining our team.
If there is one thing Ashley hopes more people know about Beavercreek City Schools, it would be that we have a great community and awesome staff. She also hopes to influence our students by teaching them to be happy, healthy, and kind.
We are thrilled to have Ashley as a member of the Creek family!
Join us in recognizing Chris Stein for his four years of dedication and service to Beavercreek City Schools as a Board of Education member. Chris' term will conclude at the end of the year, December 31.
Thank you, Chris! 🧡🖤
This week's staff spotlight is Lukas Schweikert, our freshmen world history teacher and middle school cross country and track coach. ⭐⭐⭐
Lukas has been teaching in the district for two years and coaching for five. He says two of his favorite quotes are "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" and Mr. Roger's quote, "You make each day a special day by just you being you." He believes every student is unique and has their own special gifts. As long as they give their best, every day of teaching is a special and fantastic day.
Lukas also says that many individuals have influenced his career. "As a Beavercreek grad, Class of 2012, many teachers in the district directly influenced how I teach and coach. To name a few, Mr. Enneking, Mrs. Ford, Mr. Vinson, Mr. Dave Miller, Mr. Cusick, Mr. Ahrns, and Mr. Schaadt all helped instill my love of history and how to teach it. Mrs. Group, Mr. Group, Ms. Egan, Mrs. Pope, Mr. Willets, Frau Humphrey, Mrs. Russ, Mrs. Nartker, Mr. Wegley, and Mrs. McDaniel showed me the importance of student relationships and how they foster educational growth. These teachers showed that if you care about a student, they will push themselves to learn. I would be remiss if I did not mention my actual family, my DPS family, and my Ferguson family (shoutout to Mr. Kelly, Mr. Anderson, and Mr. Gilbert for being the best social studies department!)
Happy Holidays!
There is no better way to celebrate the first day of winter than with the start of winter break! ❄️❄️☃️❄️❄️
No school for students starting tomorrow, Friday, December 22, through January 5. Enjoy your time off, and we will see you after the new year.
Hannah Johnson, kitchen manager at Valley Elementary, is this week’s staff spotlight! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hannah has been with the district for two years and hopes to teach students the importance of kindness. She says, “Acts of kindness make the world a better place for everyone.”
Hannah’s parents are to whom she attributes her success, as they have always supported and encouraged her. They also modeled a good work ethic and strong values growing up.
If there is one thing she hopes people know about our district, it would be that we have so many wonderful staff members, and our students are always the top priority!
Special thank you to Nathan, Kayli, and Brady for taking a break from show choir rehearsal tonight to stop by our Board of Education meeting! They stopped by to give our Board an update on all things BHS in a new segment called “High School Happenings.” #BHS #FriendsShowChoir
It's Winter Hope Week! Students are encouraged to join in this week's spirit week - teachers will also be participating... join in to show your holiday spirit!
Congratulations to BHS' November Shine Award Winner, Kitty Macbeth who was nominated by Mrs. Hess. Mrs. Hess stated that Kitty is a joy to have in class because she is always engaged but what really stands out is her character toward other students. She is always respectful and caring towards students. Kitty always shows the character pillars in her day to day interactions making her a phenomenal young adult! Thanks Kitty - keep up the great work at BHS!!
