🐾 Shaw Shares: Giving Back to Our Furry Friends! 🐾
On December 9th, parents and students at Shaw Elementary came together for a heartwarming volunteer event hosted by Shaw Shares. Volunteers worked after school to create knotted fleece blankets and chew toys for animals at the Greene County Animal Control Shelter. 🐶🐱
This amazing effort will help keep the animals warm and comfortable during the colder months. Thank you to everyone who participated—you truly made a difference! 🧡🖤

The Shaw Holiday fair will take place Saturday, November 16th, 2024 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Join us for a fun day of holiday shopping!
🎃🍬 Mr. Shaw’s third graders dove into some Halloween-themed science fun this past week! In a candy corn science lab, students grouped up to drop candy corn into different liquids—water, canola oil, vinegar, and soda—and observed what would happen.
Each group dropped their candy corn pieces at the same time and timed the experiment. As they watched closely, they recorded their observations with both words and pictures. By the end, they discovered that candy corn dissolved in water, soda, and vinegar but stayed intact in canola oil! 🧪🍂
This hands-on experiment was a perfect blend of science and seasonal spirit. Way to go, scientists! #atShawWithShaw

Honoring Our Veterans at Shaw School
We will have a Veteran parade to honor all Veterans who would like to participate. At 8:45am on November 11th, please drive through our loops to be honored. Starting behind the school, follow the white lines around the loop, then turn right into the side lane, turn right onto Gershpacher, then right into the bus loop at the front of the school, finally exiting at the light. We look forward to honoring you in our drive-thru parade. Please put a sign on your front windshield that says what branch you serve(d) in and the student you are related to (if you have someone at Shaw). Also, if you would like to share a picture of yourself in uniform that we could show the students, please email it to susan.peveler@gocreek.org. THANK YOU for your service!
Skills Lab Family Time project will be completed in your student's skills lab class during the months of November and December. This project aligns with our digital safety lessons of reducing eye strain and limiting screen time as well as our district initiative of One District, One Mission, One Creek. Students will gather photos showing how they spend their time away from technology. Photos of the final projects will be added into a district-wide slide show that will be shared with the school community.
We can't wait to see the final projects!
📊 Fact Friday 📊
Did you know? Beavercreek City Schools recently conducted a traffic study for the area around the proposed new high school site at Alpha Bellbrook Rd. and Indian Ripple Rd. 🚗🚦
In partnership with the City of Beavercreek, Beavercreek Township, and Oberer Development, the study analyzed current traffic and projected volumes through 2028—and even considered potential needs as far out as 2048. 📈 The results will guide future infrastructure upgrades to support a high school at this location, working closely with City, County, and Township officials.

It’s National School Lunch Week! 🍎
Since 1962, this week has celebrated the importance of nutritious school lunches in supporting student success. At BCS, our Student Nutrition department serves around 4,000 lunches and 750 breakfasts daily, ensuring students have the fuel they need to thrive in and out of the classroom.
A huge thank you to our dedicated nutrition staff for their hard work in providing balanced meals that positively impact student learning and growth! #NationalSchoolLunchWeek #BcreekSchools
It's National Bus Safety Week! This week is dedicated to:
🚌Raising awareness about bus safety
🚌Educating the public, especially children, about safe bus practices
🚌Promoting safety measures among bus drivers, schools, and transportation providers
🚌 Reducing bus-related accidents and injuries
To help ensure the safety of our students, our School Resource Officers (SROs), along with Deputy Chrystal Bowers of the Greene County Sheriff's Office, participated in "ride-alongs" with several of our drivers. They were on the lookout for safety issues like illegal bus passing and speeding drivers.
Throughout the week, they will also be monitoring bus stops and school zones across the district to keep our students safe! Thank you to everyone for your commitment to student safety! 🚍 #NationalSchoolBusSafetyWeek #StudentSafety #BcreekSchools #OneDistrictOneMissionOneCreek
