St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Second Graders in Mrs. Newman's class researched famous people throughout history. Then they wrote a report (a pamphlet or a pizza box presentation) and presented it to the class. Great job!

We want to thank everyone for a fantastic Science Fair. Our judges from the Air Force Institute of Technology and Air Force Research Laboratory were very impressed by the presentations, the diversity of topics, and most importantly- Our Students! More than one judge commented on how well our students presented themselves.
Scores were out of 40 points and each student was judged by two judges. The final score was an average of the two judging scores.
We had a total of 62 Science Fair Projects. The breakdown in scores were 20 Superior Ratings, 35 Excellent Ratings, and 7 rated "Good."
Please Congratulate all our Science Fair Participants. Their hard work was very evident and they all deserve the recognition for a job well done.

Fairbrook Fifth Grade Explorers have been exploring our Solar System and recently completed the unit with a fun, cross-curricular project learning project that linked ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science! Explorer Groups selected one of 7 planets (including Pluto!) and researched information about their chosen planet. Then, using design thinking processes, explorers collaborated together and designed an "alien" that has adapted and is unique to their chosen planet. A passport was then created for each "alien," so that they could come and visit all K-4 Fairbrook students for a two-day Alien Celebration. The Aliens were loved by all and safely returned to their home planet.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Students in 2nd grade are learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in honor of President's Day.

2nd Graders in Mrs. Newman's room are researching and writing reports on famous African-Americans.

The 4th grade students in Mrs. Bruhn's class had a blast making ecosystems. They discussed all the living and non-living things needed in an ecosystem, planned what might live in their jars, and gathered materials. Their ecosystems include dirt, moss rocks, creek water, clover seeds, worms, snails, and crickets. Their jars will help them understand ecosystems, life cycles, food chains, and the water cycle.

Mrs. Carenza's 1st grade class read books about how shadows are created. Then they made their own groundhogs and used flashlights to practice making shadows for Groundhogs Day.

Fairbrook Fifth Graders recently had a visit from Air Force STEM expert, Retired Colonel Ron Stauffer, USAF. Col Stauffer spoke about a topic that he is passionate about, Space! In his talk, students learned about manned space exploration and how astronauts are “Living in Space.” Mr. Streiff has known Col Stauffer for 13 years and says that he can always count on Col Stauffer to provide STEM talks that engage students into exploring more and being inspired. 🚀🪐🛰️🔭 #livinginspace #steminspiration #NASA #airforcestem

PTO hosted a Winter Ball and it was a huge success. Thank you PTO!

Students celebrated the 100th and the 101st day of school. Some students performed a 100th day shirt fashion show, dressed as a dalmatian, and (using technology) saw and wrote about their lives when they are 100 years old.

Interest Clubs are back. The students fill out interest surveys and are placed in clubs to explore those interests. Clubs include running, cheerleading, geology, crafting, and more.
