Spoiler Alert!
The image features Edward Zink, Frank Zink, and Otto Zink! Edward's legacy is honored through the naming of the Beavercreek High School Fieldhouse, Frank's in the naming of the football stadium, and Otto's name graces the gym at Ferguson Hall.
The contributions of Ed, Frank, and Otto have left an indelible mark on our district. Yet, it's important to recognize that the entire Zink family has also made significant contributions. 🧡🖤
For example, the tree outside the athletic main office is in memory of the late Anton Zink. Also, Anton’s wife, Becky, has kept the scorebook for our basketball teams for 38 seasons now!
Do you have a favorite Zink memory? Let us know in the comments!
🌟 Staff Spotlight: Lori Howell! 🌟
Lori has been with Beavercreek City Schools for 16 years and works as a bus driver and BHS lunch monitor.
She is also "Rooted" in the BCS community as a Beavercreek High School Class of 1986 Alum!
During her career at BCS, she credits Sue Rex, her bus trainer with Kettering City Schools, as being the most influential person in her career. Lori started her driving career at Kettering almost 30 years ago.
Her favorite memories include meeting so many wonderful coworkers and making friends with many of them.
While not driving a bus or working in the cafeteria, Lori loves to spend time with her family, taking trips to the beach, gardening, and attending car shows with her husband.
"I am proud to be able to live and work in such a wonderful community with so many great people. I'm lucky to call Beavercreek home, " Lori said.
We are lucky to have her in our Creek family! 🧡🖤

We're thrilled to announce our participation in Greene County Public Health Department's "Global Day of Unplugging" tomorrow, Friday, March 1st! As part of this initiative, Beavercreek City Schools will be taking a break from social media for the day.
This means you won't see our usual posts. But don't worry, our weekly staff highlight and our new Creek Fact Friday post will be shared on Saturday instead.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize disconnecting to reconnect with what truly matters. Let's embrace this opportunity to engage in offline activities and recharge our minds and spirits.

Ankeney and Coy students in the Medical Detectives class were treated to a presentation from High School Biomedical teacher Molly Wavra and phlebotomist Moriah Kendall-Joy. Students saw and interacted with a blood draw, learned about blood types, determined the blood type of a mystery person, discovered the difficulties of the shape of the cells of people with sickle cell anemia, saw their heartbeat on a screen, took their temperature, and pumped up a set of actual lungs. Students also learned about several professions related to the medical field, including phlebotomist.
While interacting with all the activities, students learned about the new biomedical pathway offered for 9th-12th grade Beavercreek High School students. Freshmen interested in the biomedical field are encouraged to sign up for the first-year class Principles of Biomedical Science. There are four classes in the biomedical pathway, and any student who completes three classes with a C or higher is eligible for a $3,000 scholarship to Sinclar for any classes. Students also complete a graduation requirement by participating in the pathway.
Thank you, Molly Wavra and Moriah Kendall-Joy, for spending the day with our students at Coy and Ankeny!
Many of our schools kicked off their Read-A-Thon week yesterday, and we are thrilled to see our students diving into the wonderful world of books! Check out some photos of our Parkwood students enjoying reading time. 📙📘📙
⚠️ We have a "Rooted Alert" with this week's Staff Spotlight! ⚠️
Not only is Sarah Hemmerich one of our outstanding 3rd-grade teachers at Shaw Elementary, but she is also a 2014 Beavercreek High School graduate!
Sarah has been with the district for six years and credits her students as the most influential people in her career. "Each year, they create special memories and remind me why I chose this profession. They are the reason my job is fun and exciting, and I feel incredibly fulfilled as I watch them grow."
When asked what her favorite memory at BCS has been so far, she said she couldn't just pick one but that she loves all the special events like the fun run, field day, the 100th day of school, and other celebrations. "It's so much fun to step away from academics for a day, do something fun, and create special memories.
Outside the classroom, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hanging out with her puppy, Henry, listening to audiobooks, and attending Bengals' games. Sarah and her husband are Bengals season ticket holders!
And finally, Sarah said, "Being a member of the Creek family means being a part of a community that celebrates student success and growth! 🧡🖤
