In Mr. Stevenson's 7th grade robotics, students learn how to calculate gear ratios between different size gears. Students were given a ratio and had to work backward to determine which size gears created that specific ratio. They then built a model to demonstrate the change in speed and torque for each specific ratio. Students were then given specific engineering problems that required increased speed or torque and had to build a model that accurately reflected the needed change. #BcreekSchools #BCSRobotics

We are excited to bring back our staff spotlight! This week, we feature Susan Groves, District Registrar and Administrative Assistant to the Director of Technology! Susan has been with BCS for 9 years and says her mother is the most influential person in her career. If there is one thing she wishes more people knew about our schools, it is that "the staff that supports our amazing teachers work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure all of our students receive an excellent education!" Susan, thank you for all you do! Our district is lucky to have you! #BcreekSchools #BeavercreeksBest

Congratulations to senior Emily Harris! Emily recently won first place in the Patterson High School Scholar Award Essay Contest for Chemistry I students and placed in the top 10 for the exam portion. Originally established by Charles A. Thomas and Caroll A. Hochwalt, former Dayton chemists and Monsanto researchers, the top chemistry students in the area have been recognized under the auspices of the Dayton Section since 1943. In Dayton, students who take the local section exam are also eligible for the Patterson High School Chemistry awards, the longest continuously awarded High School Chemistry prize in the USA. The top ten scorers on the local section exam are invited to write an essay on how chemistry affects their lives, with prizes for the top three essays. Emily's first-place win included a $1000 prize. Great job, Emily! #CreekProud #BcreekSchools

Special shout-out to Brian Jasper, our daytime custodian at Trebein Elementary! Not only did he recently carry an injured student to the office who had fallen just outside the cafeteria, but he was also quick to act when another student was choking. He immediately did the Heimlich maneuver, allowing the food she was choking on to be dislodged. #GoingAboveAndBeyond #CreekProud

Mrs. Minton's ELL students are from all over the world: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Vietnam, The Congo, Turkey, Japan, Spain, and Lebanon. To start the 23-24 school year, she introduced them to America's favorite pastime, BASEBALL! Students learned baseball vocabulary and practiced verbs like throw, pitch, hit, miss, and swing. Then, they got to try it out for themselves. Also, baseball lessons are only complete with learning "Take Me Out to the Ballgame and eating some Cracker Jacks!
