In honor of National Veterans and Military Family Appreciation Month, did you know that the Purple Star School designation began in 2017 in Ohio and that Trebein Elementary was part of the inaugural class to receive this prestigious designation? 💜✨ The Purple Star Award is given to "Military-Friendly Schools" that demonstrate support for our military-connected families. Today, 45 out of 50 states have followed Ohio's lead in recognizing Purple Star Schools. We are proud to share that all 11 Beavercreek City School buildings have earned the Purple Star designation. 🌱🥗 Mrs. Sutton's ELA and Science classes at Parkwood Elementary enjoyed a tasty and educational treat last week, sampling fresh salads grown in their Tower Garden! As part of their study on the roles organisms play in ecosystems, students had the chance to act as "consumers" of the leafy "producers" they helped cultivate.

📊 Fact Friday 📊 Did you know? Beavercreek City Schools recently conducted a traffic study for the area around the proposed new high school site at Alpha Bellbrook Rd. and Indian Ripple Rd. 🚗🚦 In partnership with the City of Beavercreek, Beavercreek Township, and Oberer Development, the study analyzed current traffic and projected volumes through 2028—and even considered potential needs as far out as 2048. 📈 The results will guide future infrastructure upgrades to support a high school at this location, working closely with City, County, and Township officials. #BHSFactFriday

🐾 Class Pets! 🐾 Ms. Hamlin's Preschool class at Parkwood has two special class "pets": Ollie the Octopus and Todd the Turtle! Each Thursday, Ollie and Todd go home with a student for the weekend, where they journal their adventures together. When the students bring them back on Monday, they present to the class all the fun they had! Check out some places and things Ollie and Todd have already experienced!

It’s National School Lunch Week! 🍎 Since 1962, this week has celebrated the importance of nutritious school lunches in supporting student success. At BCS, our Student Nutrition department serves around 4,000 lunches and 750 breakfasts daily, ensuring students have the fuel they need to thrive in and out of the classroom. 🚒 Earlier this month, Mrs. Hart & Mrs. Ammon’s preschool class went on a scavenger hunt! 🚒 In honor of Fire Prevention Week last week, the students have been learning about community helpers, focusing on firefighters. They explored how firefighters keep us safe and learned about important safety items in our school and community, such as fire alarms, fire hydrants, and fire extinguishers. After their lesson, the class went on a scavenger hunt to find pictures of everything they had learned. It was a fun and adventurous way to reinforce the importance of fire safety! 🔍👩‍🚒 #FirePreventionWeek #PreschoolAdventures #BcreekSchools

It's National Bus Safety Week! This week is dedicated to: 🚌Raising awareness about bus safety 🚌Educating the public, especially children, about safe bus practices 🚌Promoting safety measures among bus drivers, schools, and transportation providers 🚌 Reducing bus-related accidents and injuries To help ensure the safety of our students, our School Resource Officers (SROs), along with Deputy Chrystal Bowers of the Greene County Sheriff's Office, participated in "ride-alongs" with several of our drivers. They were on the lookout for safety issues like illegal bus passing and speeding drivers. Throughout the week, they will also be monitoring bus stops and school zones across the district to keep our students safe!
