Meet Alexis! Alexis is a freshman at Ferguson Hall, and this is her first year on the wrestling team. With two pins already under her belt, we are excited to see what her future holds! Keep up the excellent work, Alexis! #CreekPride 🧡🖤🤼♀️

Allie Draper, a fifth grader, is Valley Elementary's first Storyworks contest winner. This is the first year of the writing club at Valley, and we are so excited to have a winner for this contest! "Bob D. Apple," aka Allie, wrote a letter to the president to persuade him to make the apple our national fruit. 🍎🍏
Great job, Allie!

Thank you to Five Guys for partnering with our Beavercreek High School Air Force JROTC program and to all cadets and families who came together for this delicious fundraising event! 🍔🍟

Fairbrook Elementary held its Spelling Bee, and we could not BEE more excited with the results! Twenty-five students participated in the contest, with each grade level having its own competition. The winner of each grade competed in a championship matchup.
- Second Grade lasted 15 rounds
- Third Grade lasted 19 rounds
- Fourth Grade lasted 19 rounds
- Fifth Grade lasted 6 rounds.
The champion's contest lasted six rounds, with fourth grader Aariz winning! Aariz won the competition with the word 'slakes.' 🏆
Congratulations to all our participants, and shout out to our second-grade winner, Melanie, third-grade winner, Aiden, fifth-grade winner, Jameson, and of course, Aariz. 🐝🐝🐝🐝

One of the coolest things we do in many of our classrooms is something called "Mystery Reader." This is an opportunity for our students to hear a book read by someone other than their teacher.
Board of Education Vice President Krista Hunt visited Trebein Elementary last week and read to one of our kindergarten classes.
If Krista's smile didn't say enough, she also said "If you're ever sad, spend 30 minutes in a classroom. It made my day!" ❤️ #MysteryReader #SchoolBoardAppreciation 🧡🖤

Beavercreek Schools are on a two-hr delay for Tuesday 1/16!

Join us this Friday, Jan. 19, for a night of honor and gratitude! Our Creek hockey game is turning into Military Appreciation Night! Let's come together to salute our heroes in uniform. Wear your patriotic colors! It's more than a game – it's a tribute! The puck drops at 10 p.m.

This is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Thank you to our BHS Transition Class students for stopping by the Board office and Preschool today to collect our recyclables!

This week's staff spotlight is Dustin Ferguson! Dustin is our physical education teacher at Trebein Elementary.
Dustin has been a member of the Creek family for 19 years, and throughout his career, he has been most influenced by Principal Lisa Walk.
He hopes his students get excited to come to his class every day and leave feeling that they are cared for and with a better understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun!
He also wishes more people could see how well Beavercreek employees collaborate and how much of a family atmosphere there is throughout the entire district. 🧡🖤
Congrats Dustin!

"Winter's Friday unfolds in hues of dawn: A cold sunrise paints the sky above the Board of Education building, where the chill in the air harmonizes with the warmth of learning, creating a serene and enchanting start to the day." #HappyFriday #FridaySunrise

Beavercreek placed 2nd as a team, with half the students as the tournament champions. Great job, Beaver SPEAK and Debate!

Our high school Spanish 1 students put their language skills to the test with a creative 'About Me' project! From sharing personal interests to highlighting newfound Spanish vocabulary, they're ready to showcase what they've learned in an engaging and fun way. Check out a few of their projects, which are displayed in the halls at BHS!

Congratulations to Ankeney 7th grader Juliet Faith! Juliet is one of three nationwide winners in a Scholastic magazine writing contest, where she wrote an essay about the power of resilience and problem-solving. Juliet won a copy of Dusti Bowling's book The Canyon’s Edge. Congratulations on your accomplishment, Juliet!

On Saturday, January 6, during the BCS Board of Education Annual Organizational Meeting, Jo Ann Rigano was nominated and elected Board President for the 2024 school year. Krista Hunt was nominated and elected Board Vice President.

This week, we highlight Ashley Bieller, a member of the student nutrition team at Shaw Elementary.
Although Ashley began her BCS career only a few months ago, she says that recently retired student nutrition operations manager Dawn Kacvinsky has been the most influential person in her career since joining our team.
If there is one thing Ashley hopes more people know about Beavercreek City Schools, it would be that we have a great community and awesome staff. She also hopes to influence our students by teaching them to be happy, healthy, and kind.
We are thrilled to have Ashley as a member of the Creek family!

Join us in recognizing Chris Stein for his four years of dedication and service to Beavercreek City Schools as a Board of Education member. Chris' term will conclude at the end of the year, December 31.
Thank you, Chris! 🧡🖤

This week's staff spotlight is Lukas Schweikert, our freshmen world history teacher and middle school cross country and track coach. ⭐⭐⭐
Lukas has been teaching in the district for two years and coaching for five. He says two of his favorite quotes are "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" and Mr. Roger's quote, "You make each day a special day by just you being you." He believes every student is unique and has their own special gifts. As long as they give their best, every day of teaching is a special and fantastic day.
Lukas also says that many individuals have influenced his career. "As a Beavercreek grad, Class of 2012, many teachers in the district directly influenced how I teach and coach. To name a few, Mr. Enneking, Mrs. Ford, Mr. Vinson, Mr. Dave Miller, Mr. Cusick, Mr. Ahrns, and Mr. Schaadt all helped instill my love of history and how to teach it. Mrs. Group, Mr. Group, Ms. Egan, Mrs. Pope, Mr. Willets, Frau Humphrey, Mrs. Russ, Mrs. Nartker, Mr. Wegley, and Mrs. McDaniel showed me the importance of student relationships and how they foster educational growth. These teachers showed that if you care about a student, they will push themselves to learn. I would be remiss if I did not mention my actual family, my DPS family, and my Ferguson family (shoutout to Mr. Kelly, Mr. Anderson, and Mr. Gilbert for being the best social studies department!)

Happy Holidays!

There is no better way to celebrate the first day of winter than with the start of winter break! ❄️❄️☃️❄️❄️
No school for students starting tomorrow, Friday, December 22, through January 5. Enjoy your time off, and we will see you after the new year.
